Temperatures over the Maltese islands are at the moment soaring and reaching highs of 30C and may be classified as a heat spell, these conditions are set to persist until Wednesday 13th June as instability will take over and start affecting the Central Mediterranean, the air pressure over our islands will drop to 1008hPa on Wednesday night.
This low pressure system, which is expected to originate over central Italy and will extend southwards, will create instability over our immediate area. Strong winds are also expected to reach the Maltese islands as a result.

The map above shows a clear contrast between temperatures expected tomorrow Tuesday 12th (left) and Friday 15th June, clearly indicating that a cooler airflow originating over Northern Europe is expected to push southwards and this will mean that temperatures are expected to calm down a bit over the Maltese islands.
Thunderstorms are expected to affect our neighbors, the Italians, however these are not at the moment, expected to extend further towards us and we will only experience a few isolated showers with minimal precipitation as outlined over the above map (indicating precipitation level forecast according to GFS system for Friday 15th morning).
This instability is expected to affect the Maltese islands from Wednesday 13th June evening, persisting throughout the weekend and continuing until the following Tuesday 19th June.
