Sicily continues to shake. A number of tremors were felt between Etna and Peloritani in the provinces of Messina and Catania during the past days. Earlier today at 5:46 a magnitude 3.3 earthquake on the Richter scale, at 37.8km depth, affected the Peloritani mountains, with epicenter between Castroreale and Mandanici.

The shock was felt in many cities in Messina and Catania although, fortunately, no damage was reported.


The above map, generated by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, shows the earthquake towards Sicily’s NorthEast which reached a 3.3 magnitude on the Richter scale.

The Tremor was not felt in Malta, however the University of Malta’s instruments at the Seismic Monitoring & Research Group, Department of Geosciences, registered the earthquake.
